FREE COMMUNITY EVENT!!!

(Los Angeles, Calif.) - Peace Quest, a non-profit organization dedicated to bridging communication within the community will hold Peace Day 2002 (7th Annual) on Saturday, November 9, 2002, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the 32nd Street/USC Vision and Performing Arts Magnet School located at 822 West 32nd Street in Los Angeles. Peace Day is a community celebration that focuses on bringing people together in peace. Community leaders, celebrities, sports figures, politicians and radio stations will be present to lend their support. An opening ceremony PRAYER FOR PEACE, entertainment, food, a fashion show, a celebrity basketball tournament, a poetry slam, game booths, scholarships and prizes, a panel discussion, non-profit organization booths and a Days of Dialogue discussion on current events are all part of this momentous free event. For the past six years Peace Quest, through its director Deirdre Smith, has been presenting an annual community day in an effort to further bridge communication. "With every instance of violence, we are reminded of how much damage hate, ignorance and lack of respect cause… and together, we must quest for peace," states Smith. As in past years, this 7th Annual Peace Day will work to educate all people, young and old, black, white and brown, rich and poor, on how to live together in peace. Last year more than 2000 were in attendance including 850 children who were bused in from various elementary, junior and high schools.

Peace Quest will present Peacemaker Awards honoring long time supporters Nabisco, the Los Angeles Laker Girls, the Cheesecake Factory and award-winning actress, Adilah Barnes. Barnes currently plays Judge Randall on Lifetime Television's For the People. She co-starred in Erin Brockovich and was featured in Murder By Numbers.
