ACTOR ADILAH BARNES ACCEPTS OFFER TO HOST TALK SHOW, “ADILAH”  ON

FAST GROWING INTERNET’S BLAKERADIO NETWORK

Los Angeles, Calif.) – BlakeRadio Network, one of the fastest growing Internet radio sites recently offered motion picture, television and stage actor, Adilah Barnes an opportunity to host and develop her own program for “Rainbow Soul,” a show on the BlakeRadio.com. Listeners with reel browser access can listen in by logging onto www.BlakeRadio.com and clicking on to Rainbow Soul (Channel 5).

Barnes’ program, simply named “Adilah” offers a variety of engaging, informative and up close and personal conversations with accomplished industry figures who represent different facets of the business and who are doing outstanding work. August guests are actor Ella Joyce of the popular television show, “Roc”, entertainment journalist/founder Tanya Kersey founder of the Hollywood Black Film Festival and publicist, Pat Tobin. Upcoming slated guests include accomplished actors Hattie Winston, Virginia Capers, Anna Maria Horsford and Alaina Reed Hall, among many others.

Based in New York, owner and operator, Neil Blake, started BlakeRadio Network in 2000 out of his love for slow jams. BlakeRadio.com airs 24/7 and can be heard anywhere a listener has an Internet connection.

Blake’s first channel launched was Music Massage, dedicated to R&B, jazz, soul, reggae and slow jams 24/7. Music Massage continues to be the flagship broadcast for the BlakeRadio family of webcasts.

After a positive response to the 24-hour Slow Jam channel, BlakeRadio.com created the webcasts “Mahogany Sunshine”, “Kids Café”, “Joyful Noise”, “Rainbow Soul” and “SpeakEasy”, which make up the current family of BlakeRadio channels.

The goal of this Internet Radio station is to bring the listeners and viewers around the planet a variety of music, talk radio and video presentations that help to entertain, relax and empower the mind, body and soul. It already has listeners in over 143 nations around the world. Japan is second to the United States in listenership. Other loyal listeners include those from Canada, Korea, Brazil, Mexico, Italy, Germany, China, and the United Kingdom.

Ted Terry, veteran broadcaster and host of “The Ted Terry Show” on BlakeRadio.com approached Barnes months ago about developing her own radio show. “Adilah brings a wealth of knowledge and command of the spoken word.  Her background as well as her wit adds another dimension to the roundtable for the Blake Radio Network,” states Terry.  “I was at first a little hesitant because I knew that I’d be crossing over into a new medium and although I’ve done voice-over work that has aired on radio, being a talk show radio host is quite different than doing radio commercial work. At the same time, I’m very excited about doing this because the truth is that I am able to transfer my chops to this medium while also reaching a larger audience. Now that I have taped a few segments under my belt, I can begin to exhale,” Barnes states.

“Some of my guests, based on their view of the world, will certainly have things to say that have both social and political implications.  For example, my recent interview with journalist and Hollywood Black Film Festival founder, Tanya Kersey definitely stepped outside the box in terms of what needed to be said and hard data to back our talk up. Other conversations such as the one with actor Ella Joyce will hopefully be eye-opening, personal and inspirational,” remarks Barnes who fittingly uses as her theme song Here Comes the Sun, by the late Nina Simone.

Barnes, an award-winning actor with over 30 years of acting experience will portray historical figure, Ida B. Wells in HBO’s Iron-Jawed Women opposite Angelica Houston and Hilary Swank, which is slated to air in 2004. She is best known to film audiences for her role as Anna in Erin Brockovich  and more recently for Murder By Numbers with Sandra Bullock. She is also known to television audiences for her role as Anne Marie on ABC’s Roseanne for five seasons.

Barnes is Co-founder of the Los Angeles Women’s Theatre Festival.  As a writer, her current projects include her internationally touring solo show, “I Am That I Am: Woman, Black and another one-woman show on the life of her mother, Just Call Her a Woman of the Soil. Her first book,On My Own Terms: One Actor’s Journey is slated to be released the end of 2003. She also teaches both writing and acting classes in North Hollywood.
