(Los Angeles, Calif.) – The production of team of “Fried Clams With Bellies” a thought-provoking, biographical, one-woman play has been joined by award-winning actor, Adilah Barnes who is serving as creative consultant during its six-week run (Sept. 21st – Oct. 26th ).

“Fried Clams With Bellies” opened Sunday, September 21st to a sold-out crowd at the Elephant Performance Lab, 1078 N. Lillian Way in Hollywood (off Santa Monica Boulevard).  Actress Roz Browne (ABC’s “The View,” and BET’s “Comic View”) received a standing ovation for her debut performance and portrayal of several characters in “Fried Clams With Bellies.”  Performances are being held each Sunday at 3:00 p.m. through October 26th.

“Working with Barnes on this project has made all the difference in the world! Her knowledge and insight has been a tremendous addition to “Fried Clams With Bellies.”  She knows what it takes to make a solo show work! She knows her stuff! Browne states.
“It is a pleasure to work with Roz on a solo show that is so deeply personal to her. As Creative Consultant, I have been asked to bring the finer strokes to the already defined broad canvas of the piece. I love the writing and Roz’s energetic and heartfelt performance is delightful to watch. I feel honored to be a part of the creative team,” states Barnes.
"Sometimes you have to see beyond the way something looks" is Browne’s message in “Fried Clams with Bellies.”  Browne journeys half way around the world

bringing to life an assortment of colorful characters from a flashy skater at a roller rink in Los Angeles to mysterious Aborigines at Ayer’s Rock in Australia.

Barnes, writer and producer of her own historical one-woman show, I Am That I Am: Woman, Black, has toured throughout the United States in 35 states, Europe and the Caribbean.  She is also writing a solo show on the life of her mother called Just Call Her a Woman of the Soil.  She is also currently completing her first book, On My Own Terms: One Actor’s Journey (slated for release by 2004).  As a director, she has directed at the American Conservatory Theatre (ACT) such productions as Homeland, Separate Tables, Bus Stop and Danny and the Deep Blue Sea in San Francisco.

As Co-Founder and Executive Producer at the Los Angeles Women’s Theatre Festival (LAWTF), Barnes has been a major force in producing over 250 solo shows over the last ten years. She also presently teaches the solo writing class, “Connecting the Inner Dots” with LAWTF and will begin a new 12-week writing session on October 1st.  She also teaches acting privately in North Hollywood at the Actor’s Workout Studio.
